Join us for a "A Night With Local Legends” as the Eau Claire Jazz Festival celebrates some our town’s finest musicians.
The Eau Claire Jazz Festival is proud to present Eau Claire’s own Sean Carey, Sue Orfield, Josh Gallagher and Jeremy Boettcher together with Grammy-nominated UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble 1 for an evening of jazz and jazz inspired music. Segments of the PBS Wisconsin Documentary “Jazz Fest in Eau Claire” will also feature the history and longevity of the Eau Claire Jazz Festival.

Meet Our Guest Artists
Sean carey
Sean Carey is a percussionist, singer, producer and songwriter most known for his work with Bon Iver and his own project, S. Carey. A 2007 graduate of UWEC, he went on to tour North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia with Bon Iver, and in 2012 won two Grammys for his performance on their self-titled release. He has released three full length records under the moniker, S. Carey, with his latest release, Hundred Acres, in 2018. He continues to collaborate with musicians across the country and stay involved in the Eau Claire music community.
Sue orfield
Sue Orfield has played with many musical greats over the years, including Bo Diddley, Bobby McFerrin, The Indigo Girls, Ann Wilson (Heart), Dizzy Gillespie, Ivan Neville, Jo Dee Messina, among others. She tours internationally with several groups, including The Tiptons Sax Quartet & Drums (Seattle/NYC), Junkyard Jane (Seattle) and Ellen Whyte (Portland).
Sue makes her home in the Chippewa Valley, and plays locally with bands from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota, including The Sue Orfield Band, The Jazz Women All Stars, AcoustiHoo, Take That, The Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra, Catya's Trio, Two Rivers, The Butanes, and many more.
Josh Gallagher
Piano Prodigy, Josh Gallagher is a mainstay in the Chippewa Valley and Twin Cities music scene. Growing up under the tutelage of Dave Brubek and other notable legends, Gallagher brings nothing but joy and unparalleled excitement to the stage. He has a command over all styles of jazz music and has a vast mental library of influences he pulls from while performing.
Jeremy Boettcher
Award-winning Bassist, Jeremy Boetcher quickly found himself performing with top artists around the country as he became known for his versatility and musicianship. Over the last few years, he could be seen primarily touring the world with legends such as Sean Carey and Richard Johnson. Most recently, he performed extensively with Jazz At Lincoln Center Doha and Jazz At Lincoln Center Shanghai.
